Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Model Mooting Competition (UPRMMC) - UK Edition

The University of Stirling is organising a major three-day UPR Model Mooting competition to be held on 10-12 June 2025 for 60 participants. The UK has been reviewed by the UPR mechanism 4 times (2008, 2012, 2017 and 2022). This Competition aims to provide law students, academics, and practitioners with an interactive platform to engage with human rights law, diplomacy, and advocacy. This competition will simulate the UPR process, involving mock sessions where teams represent countries, NGOs, or human rights experts. UPR Model Competitions have recently emerged in several jurisdictions including Italy, and Austria. This will be the first in the UK and offers a unique opportunity to advance experiential learning and pedagogical strategies in human rights education.
