Dr Timothy Hampson

Timothy Hampson is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Stirling, working on the AHRC-funded Transforming Cultures of Language Learning project and Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the UCL Institute of Education. He completed his PhD at the UCL Institute of Education, where he developed a taxonomy of English medium instruction research, and holds an MSc in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching from the University of Oxford.

Alongside his work on language learning, he is interested in the impact of generative AI on academic writing and on research methods. His work has published in Higher Education Research & Development, Research Methods in Applied Linguistics, Digital Studies in Language and Literature, Language Teaching, and Research in Education. He is a reviewer for Applied Linguistics, System, TESOL Quarterly, and AILA Review
