About me

About me

I have been a Visiting Researcher at the University of Stirling since November 2023, and I have also been an Honorary Fellow at the University of Aberdeen since July 2022.

Before that, I worked as an Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy at the National University "Odesa Maritime Academy"; from 2017-2018, I was a Visiting Lecturer at the Odesa National Medical University, and from 2010 to 2012, I was a Senior lecturer and from 2013 to 2018 Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy and Methodology of Science at the Odesa National Polytechnic University.

I have an interdisciplinary background. I first studied social sciences and received a BA in sociology (2006), followed by an MA in social work with honours (2007). Afterwards, I decided to continue my research in philosophy and the methodology of knowledge. In 2012, I received my PhD in philosophy, specialising in the methodology of knowledge in Odesa I. I. Mechnykov National University.

I also believe academic research should not be buried in scientific journals but should reach the common public. That is why I popularise humanitarian science and philosophy and have many popular science publications in different media, including the UK online magazine The Conversation. Also, I am an Editor-in-chief of an online magazine about culture, urban study, and contemporary art, Prostranstvo (www.prostranstvo.media), and a member of the International movement of science fans Share Your Knowledge «15х4». Also, I am an expert on the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance (Ukraine).

Research

I specialize in the methodology of knowledge, epistemology, and philosophy of humanities using a systems approach to research complex intellectual, value, and social objects. My recent publications include research on Museums as Complex Systems in the Face of the War, Museum and Society, Vol 21, No 2 (2023) and System-descriptive analysis of GPT chat imitation strategies XI Uyomov readings, Odesa (2023).
