Ashley's research interests relate to early professional learning, outdoor learning and curriculum change. She is a member of the Educational Studies research group within the Faculty of Social Sciences. She is currently completing a Doctorate which explores the micro-contextual processes of curriculum change in three Secondary schools through the examination of outdoor learning policy and practice.
