Retail Director of Singapore Operations at Larry Jewelry, Eric Tay, is banking on a golden future after graduating with an MBA in Retailing.
The 54-year-old studied for an MBA in Retailing to enhance his knowledge of the industry and to bolster his sparkly career prospects at Singapore's leading store for engagement and wedding rings, Larry Jewelry. Eric has worked there for the past 30 years and hopes his degree will allow him to bring fresh business ideas to the multi-award winning shop.
“My degree will allow me to put my knowledge acquired from this course into practice in my working environment. My MBA has armed me with the knowledge and confidence to propose some changes to improve the business going forward”, said Eric.He added: “The retail industry is constantly evolving with the external environment and my MBA equips me with the necessary skills to manage any challenges.”
The MBA is a two-year distance learning course in partnership with the Retail Academy of Singapore. Whilst studying, Eric worked full-time at Larry Jewelry and enjoyed playing golf in his spare time.
“Juggling studying and working full-time has been challenging throughout the course as I was out of touch with textbooks for a long time. However, I was lucky to have a group of classmates and lecturers who were very supportive and we helped and encouraged each other along the way”, said Eric.
“I have really enjoyed meeting like-minded new friends and lecturers who made the course fun, enjoyable and motivating.”
