Piotr's Story

Piotr Kasperek chose to come to Stirling from Poland because of its diverse population of students and the opportunity to explore the world further by spending a semester abroad.

“Since going on an exchange to the USA at the age of 15, I wanted to develop and grow within a multicultural environment,” he said. “My biggest challenge was related to leaving my family and friends at home and starting my life in Stirling.

“At the very beginning I felt homesick, but through joining clubs and societies I made great friends and don’t regret a moment I have had here.

“The campus is so beautiful and unique, it's been a pleasure to study here.”

His interest in how consumers and governments make choices, and how the global economy operates, led him to choose his degree in Business Studies with Economics, which included a semester in Canada.

“It was a great experience, which allowed me to meet great people, develop academically and see how education in other countries works,” said Piotr. “In addition, I managed to travel a lot in both Canada and the USA. This experience made me more open-minded and self-reliant.”

He also completed various internships, including working for the European Commission in Warsaw – an experience which enabled him to network with professionals in their field.

He describes his time at Stirling as challenging, rewarding and fun and said he valued the fact his lecturers and tutors were always very approachable and happy to help.

“Thanks to them, I have developed both academically and personally, which helped me to choose my future path,” he said.

After graduation, he is moving to Paris to study Economics at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
