Stirling graduate - Silvia Puig Saltor

Silvia's Story

Passionate about sports, Silvia Puig Saltor set her sights on studying towards a Masters degree after completing an undergraduate course at the University of Barcelona.

“I wanted to study abroad in an English speaking country and there were a few reasons I chose Stirling: it is highly ranked in sports related courses; is Scotland’s University for Sporting Excellence; and is international, with more than 120 different nationalities on campus. In addition, I was really interested in all of the modules on the MSc Sport Management course.”

The stunning campus and the University’s facilities were also a huge attraction for Silvia, who added: “I love Stirling’s location – close to other Scottish cities and to the beautiful Scottish landscapes!”

Silvia’s course provided the opportunity of two internships – one with Commonwealth Games Scotland and another with Scottish Gymnastics – and the chance to hear from sports industry experts. Reflecting on the internships, she said: “I learned lots about sports events planning and management and they helped me gain more confidence in a real working environment.”

Away from her studies, the 23-year-old enjoyed participating in the Dance Club, learning about Scottish culture, and visiting Glencoe, the Isle of Skye and Inverness – but she especially enjoyed being part of the University’s Volunteer Zambia programme, working in communities around Lusaka to help improve children’s lives through sport.

“My time at Stirling was enjoyable, fruitful and unforgettable,” Silvia added.
