Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sport, YB Encik Khairy Jamaluddin visits the University of Stirling.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Gerry McCormac welcomed the Malaysian Minister of Youth and Sport, YB Encik Khairy Jamaluddin, to the University of Stirling to learn about the University's international reputation and expertise in delivering sport management and related programmes.

The development of the Malaysian sport industry is of national importance to the Malaysian government. Both the Ministry of Youth and Sport and the Ministry of Education have indicated that a dedicated sport university is needed to extend the country’s international sports capability.

Recent research conducted by the Professor Leigh Robinson, Head of the University of Stirling’s School of Sport, in the 2011 paper ‘Building the Capacity of the Malaysian Sport Industry’, was well received by the Ministry of Youth and Sport and the University is currently exploring partnership opportunities in the region in the field of sport.
