Constantin's Story

After completing an undergraduate degree in political science in his native Germany, Constantin undertook several internships in corporate and political communication departments before signing up for a master’s at Stirling.

The University’s reputation in the field of public relations and the small class sizes appealed to him and the course allowed him to study both in Scotland and in Spain.

He said: “Stirling was an important step for me – it allowed me to gain further experience abroad and to expand my theoretical and practical knowledge. The University has a strong academic reputation and my time at the Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, gave me a whole new perspective.

“I was also impressed with the individual modules offered at Stirling, which gave me insight into new areas, and I found it inspiring to study together with students from all over the world.”

While studying, Constantin enjoyed playing for the University’s field hockey team, which provided the perfect opportunity to meet new people and to travel and experience other Scottish cities while competing at away games.

The COVID-19 pandemic added an extra, unforeseen challenge to Constantin’s time at Stirling, however, one which was eased by the support of the University community.

“Writing my dissertation during times of coronavirus was certainly the biggest challenge,” he says. “But knowing that you are not alone in this situation, and the great solidarity among all students, helped a lot.

“Stirling is exciting, beautiful and welcoming.”

After graduating, Constantin is embarking on a new job as a junior analyst for a public affairs and politics agency in Berlin.
