Laura's Story

Laura returned to studying after spending a couple of years working and travelling in Australia. After attending a Postgraduate Open Day at Stirling, she knew it was the place for her to continue her education.

Stirling is ranked number one in Scotland for Criminology so it was an obvious choice for Laura, who has had a long-term interest in the subject.

Laura said: “When I came along to the Open Day, the staff and students were fantastic at answering my questions and providing an insight into what studying here would be like. Since my days studying for my original psychology degree, I’ve had an interest in criminology and a desire to pursue a career in that field.

“I believe the extremely positive experience I’ve had studying at Stirling stands me in good stead to achieve that now. The number of students in seminars were a good size, making it easy to ask questions and engage with the lecturers.

“Staff were really helpful and always willing to support us and make us aware of relevant volunteering and further learning opportunities. I would describe my time at Stirling as engaging, positively challenging, and valuable.

“I’m looking forward to taking my next steps into criminology and beginning my career.”
