BSc Hons Environmental Geography and Outdoor Education

Scotland

Aimie Bowman

Aimee graduated in 2026 with a strong set of skills from her Environmental Geography and Outdoor Education degree. This let her continue on to postgraduate study in Outdoor and Adventure Therapeutic Practice. She also works as a co-ordinator at a mentoring organisation and a freelance summer mountain leader.

I've always loved geography and outdoor education as well as time in the mountains. So it made sense to combine the two, as they go hand in hand. I really liked the sound of the course at Stirling. Also it's such a gorgeous campus.

Great support from staff and peers

The support from staff was incredible. I also feel very fortunate with the peers I had too. If you’re looking for a campus and university that supports beyond just education and supports the wellbeing of their students, go to Stirling. I can’t recommend it enough.

The skills I gained from the course made me so much more aware within the landscape when I'm guiding as a Summer Mountain Leader.

In my career I also use the content production and video skills I learnt during the projects we did. I was encouraged to join the photography and video society by a peer who had seen a photo I'd taken. I’ve now been paid for some video work and love taking my camera into the landscape.

Grateful for the care experience bursary

I’m thankful for the Students Awards Agency Scotland for opening up the care experience bursary to nature students and recognising we should have the chance to start over
again too.

My advice to future Stirling students

Enjoy it and be immensely proud of yourself and your achievements!
