Entry and English language requirements

Select your country below to find details of the international qualifications we accept for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Please also check the specific grades and essential subjects required for your chosen course by checking our individual course pages.

If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence of your English language skills. For a complete list of the English language qualifications we accept, including where we are able to waive an English condition based on certain local qualifications, please see our .

Bangladesh

Undergraduate

The University of Stirling normally requires school leavers from Bangladesh to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. Find out more about the University of Stirling's Foundation programmes.

Additionally, the University will welcome applications from students who have completed one year of relevant university study.

Postgraduate

We will consider applications to Master degrees from graduates of Bangladeshi Higher Education Institutes recognised by UK ENIC (formerly UK NARIC). Applicants must have either:

  • A 4-year Bachelor’s degree 60% or GPA of 2.7/4, or
  • A Masters in addition to a 3-year Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 60% or GPA of 2.7/4

India

Undergraduate

Direct Entry to 1st Year:

Year 12 Grade – cumulative score of 65% and above from the following state boards:

  • CBSE
  • ISC/ICSE
  • Metro state boards (Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal)

Students from other state boards will require Year 12 Grade – cumulative score of 75%.

Advanced Entry to 2nd Year:

Year 12 Grade – cumulative score of 75% and above from the following state boards:

  • CBSE
  • ISC/ICSE
  • Metro state boards (Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal)

Advanced entry is possible on a range of courses. Student applications will be considered on a case by case basis.

Advanced entry options for students who have scored 35 in the International Baccalaureate or GCE A-Levels ABB in one sitting will also be considered on a case by case basis.

Postgraduate

We welcome applications from applicants graduating with 50% from Tier 1 College/University (namely University of Mumbai, University of Calcutta, University of Delhi) or graduating with 55% from a Tier 2 College/University.

Nepal

Undergraduate

The University welcomes applications from students who have successfully completed the HSC Year 12, with a minimum of 75%.

Postgraduate

The University welcomes applications from students holding a minimum of 70% in 4 year Bachelor's degree.

Pakistan

Undergraduate

Direct Entry to 1st Year

Successful completion of High School Certificate Year 12, with an over all minimum of 75% , and 75% in subjects where there is a specific requirement (see individual course pages for details) or successful completion of year 1 from a recognised University.

Postgraduate

  • 4 year Bachelor’s degree GPA of 2.6/4.0 or 60%;
  • 3 year Bachelor’s degree plus a 2 year Master’s degree with a GPA of 2.6/4.0 or 60% (in both Bachelor and Masters)
  • 2 year Bachelor’s degree plus a 2 year Master’s degree with a GPA of 2.6/4.0 or 60% (in both Bachelor and Masters)
  • Individual course requirements may differ.

Sri Lanka

Undergraduate

The University welcomes applications from students holding BBC at A level for entry to most undergraduate programmes. Some programmes may also stipulate subject specific entry criteria.

Postgraduate

Minimum of B or 3.0/4 or Lower Second in Bachelor's Special or Professional degree

Need help improving your English? If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements, our Pre-sessional English courses can help you progress onto your degree. Delivered on campus by INTO University of Stirling, you’ll be able to access expert training and language support.

International Society
