Eligibility and availability

Eligible for PhD study (usually has Master’s degree or equivalent with a sizeable social science component).

UK fees only will be covered.

This specific PhD competition only.

Study commences in Autumn 2024.

Student will be expected to attend on-campus meetings and commit to being on campus for a significant amount of the week.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate an interest in the sector and potential and enthusiasm for developing skills more widely in related areas. Applicants will need to have interpersonal skills to develop positive working relationships with supervisors and stakeholders. It is essential to have effective verbal and written communication skills. Applicants should demonstrate that they can work to deadlines, prepare, and deliver presentations and write high quality research papers.

Applicants should submit via email a curriculum vitae (no more than 2 pages), a sample of writing, a brief letter outlining their qualification for the studentship, transcripts of undergraduate and master’s qualifications, and two academic references to Professor Michael Roy (email: michael.roy1@stir.ac.uk) by no later than 5pm on 17th May 2024. In conjunction with the above application process, the successful candidate will also be required to complete a PhD Management and Organisation application and have their offer in place in good time for an autumn 2024 start date.
