This upgrade to MSc programme has been established specifically for students who already hold an International Olympic Committee (IOC) postgraduate diploma in Sports Nutrition.

Programme Objectives

The programme provides high quality research training through planning, conducting and writing up a research project enabling those working in the field of Sports Nutrition to undertake, understand and inform others about research in their chosen area of study.

Entrance Requirements

Applicants must have met the entrance requirements for, and must have successfully completed, the IOC postgraduate diploma in Sports Nutrition. For information on how to enrol for the IOC diploma in Sports Nutrition please visit the following website: www.sportsoracle.com/ioc

English Language Requirements

If English is not your first language, you must provide evidence of your  proficiency such as a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 (minimum 6 in each skill), or  TOEFL: Listening 23, Reading 23, Speaking 23, Writing 23.

Period of Study

Full-time
MSc taken over six months (of which four months usually based in Stirling)*

Part-time
MSc taken over 12 months (of which eight months usually based in Stirling)*

*Off-campus study is possible in some cases. Students must contact the Programme Director if interested in studying off-campus.

Structure and Content

Students are required to conduct a novel research project and write up a research report of 5,000-7,000 words in the form of a scientific journal paper.

The topic of research must be approved in advance by the Programme Director. For full-time candidates the project reports must be submitted within six months of entry onto the programme. For part-time candidates these must be submitted within 12 months from date of entry onto the programme.

The examiners may allow a research project which is deemed to be unsatisfactory to be revised and submitted for re-assessment within a specified time period.

A grade will be awarded for the research project written report. A grade will also be assigned to an oral presentation of the research upon submission of the project report. A question and answer examination with the external examiner will be required for all candidates.
