The University of Stirling's campus is located at the historic heart of Scotland, with convenient links to Edinburgh, Glasgow and the rest of the UK and beyond. Stirling boasts an excellent train service with fast and frequent trains from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Inverness which connect with the national rail network across the UK.

Scotland’s two main international airports Edinburgh and Glasgow are less than an hour away by car and about 1 hour 30 min by public transport. A range of public transport options can link you from the airport to their respective city centres - including taxi, bus or tram - where you can access either train or coach services to Stirling.

The University campus is situated less than 3 miles from the Stirling city centre and can be accessed by foot, bike or regular bus service.

Accommodation

Our official conference venue will be Stirling Court Hotel, offering high quality of accommodation at affordable prices.

We have also reserved a number of hotel rooms and B&Bs for the conference participants. Several hotels of various categories, prices and locations will be at your disposal.

Stirling Court Hotel

The conference venue, Stirling Court Hotel is located within the picturesque grounds of the University of Stirling and with stunning views of the iconic Wallace Monument, the hotel is a hidden gem. With comfortable bedrooms, excellent meeting facilities and an elegant restaurant and bar, we're perfect for a short break, conference, wedding or family celebration. The Stirling Highland have offered a rate of £85 per room per night (double for single occupancy) fully inclusive overnight accommodation, full Scottish breakfast and complimentary use of our leisure facilities.

The Golden Lion

For over two hundred years, guests have been welcomed in through the handsome stone entrance of the Golden Lion, with royalty and Scotland’s national bard, Rabbie Burns in 1786, among them. On This Day 10th to 11th September 1877, Ex-President Ulysses S Grant also stayed with his family. Nowadays a sought-after setting for leisure, business and special occasions, the family-owned, family-run Golden Lion provides traditional Scottish hotel hospitality in modern style. From the contemporary comforts of the 67 rooms to the timeless grace of the magnificent Regency Ballroom, this is a Stirlingshire hotel with personality as well as professionalism.

The Golden Lion have offered rates of £69 (single) and £79 (double for sole use) per room per night, including breakfast for the dates 8th – 11th January 2019. Delegates must quote MeSSCA at the time of booking. A deposit of £35.00 per room to secure the booking with balance of payment due on arrival.

Castle Walk B&B

Castle Walk Bed & Breakfast is a distinctive historic building offering eight rooms of character in a brilliant location in the heart of Stirling’s Castle and Old Town precinct. Built into the protected ancient city walls, it is a short walk from the rail and bus stations and close to Stirling’s best restaurants and bars. The family-run B&B has recently been refreshed, with new high-quality mattresses and linen for a comfortable night. It receives excellent reviews for its hearty breakfasts, too. Free Wi-Fi and tea and coffee making facilities are available in all rooms.
