Safety on campus

‌Parents are naturally anxious about the safety of their son or daughter whilst at university. With this and the best interests of all our students in mind, the University operates a 24 hour security policy. The policy ensures that no matter the time of day or night there are security staff on duty.

Students (and parents!) can download a guide to Fire & Personal Safety.‌

As a campus-based University we are fortunate that all our facilities are within close proximity of each other. Security cameras are in place throughout the campus.

Most halls of residence offer 24-hour portering and a ‘sign in/sign out’ system for guests. A dedicated Accommodation Services team look after the welfare of residents. Instances of theft are very low and the campus has been described by Police Scotland as one of the safest in Britain.
