MSc Investment Analysis

What first attracted you to choose the University of Stirling to study your course

I hoped to complete a postgraduate degree in investment and I was also looking for a scholarship . I found the perfect match in the University of Stirling as they offered me the Karen Napier scholarship to complete the MSc in Investment Analysis. The course participates in the CFA Institute’s University Affiliation Program and so it covers at least 70% of CFA Levels I, II and III. Moreover, the campus took my breath away, so I just had to come to Stirling.

What are the benefits you found as a result of studying at Stirling?

Studying in Stirling was a transformational professional, educational and personal experience. The course allowed me to express my potential by participating in a number of competitions, through which I gained several awards. For example, I represented Stirling as part of the CFA Institute Research Challenge team, who were runners up in the 2017 UK Final. These activities formed a foundation for new career opportunities that I never imagined before. On a personal level, I met amazing personalities, from different national backgrounds, through the course; interacting with them transformed the way I think and behave. Being a University of Stirling student ambassador also helped to boost my confidence level and encouraged me to believe in myself and what I can achieve.

What specific feature(s) did you like most about the course?

The course covered the CFA curriculum, which is a goal of every aspiring financial analyst, so this feature added to its attractiveness. Having the Flying Start Leadership program at the beginning of the course was a great way to form friendships. One of the other outstanding features in my opinion was the Amplify Trading Boot Camp, which added practical experience of how financial markets work to the taught material.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering coming to Stirling?

Do not be afraid of trying new experiences within the University. Think beyond your course, about joining clubs, about volunteering, and so meeting new people. This is only a year of your life so it should not go to waste. Also, plan your study according to the module outlines; this approach helps a lot!

Are you currently employed? If so, please tell us what impact do you think your studies will have on your future career?
