The course overall was a great learning and developmental experience. The lectures, seminars, reading, research and practice placements all contributed to an increase in my knowledge, skills and experience of what good social work should consist of and shaped not only my understanding but my practice as a newly qualified social worker.
One of the most valuable aspects of the course, for me, was the involvement of people who have experience of using social work services. I will always remember what service users said were the important qualities for a social worker to have!
Feedback from service users will be at the heart of my practice in the years ahead when I will always remember the importance of core values such as respect, reliability and accountability when I begin to practice in the future and forever.
