Singapore archery athlete Madeleine Ong will focus on training full-time until 2019, after graduating with a first class degree in BA (Hons) Sports Studies and Marketing.
She chose the University of Stirling for her studies, after chancing upon the course following two years out from education.
“Stirling is well-known for its sporting scene and I thought that the sports course it offered would be good as well,” she said. “I was very interested in the modules it offered.”
During her studies, she continued to train as an archery athlete, which created some challenges with time management.
“It was a tough period juggling between classes, training and assignments, and at one point I could barely juggle all of them,” she said.
“I managed to overcome this by planning my time well, and being disciplined in my training, because sometimes I had to cut my training time to make time for classes.
“I also received help from my teachers and classmates when I had difficulties with the assignments and deadlines.”
Overall, she describes her time at Stirling as “exciting, balanced and beneficial”.
