Why did you decide to study a postgraduate course?
Personal Development – I'm a mature student and wanted to inspire and hone my writing in a supportive environment.
What attracted you to Stirling?
I’m local and love the campus.
What did you enjoy most about your time at the University of Stirling?
The content of the course covered exactly what I wanted to achieve over the year.
Which aspects of the programme did you enjoy the most?
Honest feedback on my writing, the quality and diversity of books/reading I was introduced to, and the wide variety of inputs and networking opportunities from writing to publishing to performing to tutoring.
How did your time at University make you more employable?
My aim was not necessarily to be ‘employed’ as a result of the course (I am a mature student who retired from my career early to pursue my passion for writing). It was more about my own personal development. However, I’m sure the MLitt will provide options should I wish to become employed, or perhaps start my own business in the future. If nothing else, it has put me in a better position to continue with my writing on a full-time basis and develop my confidence as a writer.
What advice would you give a student considering studying at Stirling?
Immerse yourself in as much as you can and be inquisitive. The University has a lot more to offer – get involved and network, network, network.
How would you summarise your time at Stirling?
Very enjoyable and ticked all the boxes in terms of personal goals.
