What is your fondest memory of being a student at the University of Stirling?
The magnificent nature around the University is my first memory when I recall studying in Stirling: walking from Lyon Crescent to the University and passing by trees, squirrels and rabbits and then the campus with the lake and all the animals around. This was a unique experience to me, since I live in Athens, a big city. But the most important memory is the educational method, that combined teaching sessions with team-projects and research. Coming from a Greek University, which was just teaching and exams (from which I graduated with "Excellent") I realised that in Stirling I learnt how to learn and to trust my judgement. And this is something that I still carry along and I look forward for my daughter to have it!
How did your university experience contribute to your current role?
I always think what I would have missed if I hadn't studied at Stirling. I definitely owe my career to Stirling, because I work in the field of my Master's degree, public relations, whereas my first degree is in English. Apart from the technical knowledge acquired though, it is important and helped me especially in the beginning of my career, that Stirling has a good reputation in businesses in Greece. The skills acquired in the Master's Degree - project management, team-work, research, judgement - are those that help me in my everyday work and I am grateful for that.
What advice would you give someone from your country considering the University of Stirling at present?
It is definitely worth being there! Be prepared for a unique experience, because it works completely different from the Greek educational system, that you will always remember fondly.
