Undergraduate first week timetable

A warm welcome to your first week the University of Stirling! There's lots going on this week so we've prepared handy guides detailing what's happening each day.

    This session give parents and carers a chance to get advice and guidance on all aspects of university life with a focus on priorities and support for students. 
    New Students and Families’ Welcome Reception 2.30pm to 3.30pm  Macrobert Art Centre  Our Families’ Welcome Reception starts with short welcome speeches from the University Principal, President of the Students’ Union, Director of Sport and Head of Student Support Services. Following this, parents have the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments and meet with senior members of the University. Register now for a place
    Library and IT Information 9am to 5pm  Library 

    Staff from the library and IT support are available to answer your questions. We’ll also be on hand to help you get your devices set up on the University Wi-Fi.

    Pre-club social 8pm until late  Studio, Students' Union  Studio is the single greatest place to meet new people, so come along and relax in your Students' Union. Pop in ahead of joining us for the Freshers White T-Shirt Party later 
    Freshers White T-Shirt Welcome Party! 10pm until 3am Venue, Students' Union Wear your white Freshers t-shirts and get ready to glow as you join the Students' Union for the official kick-off to Freshers 2018! Get your face painted by our FREE UV face painters. Grab your free glow sticks and dance to this year’s hits from our awesome Freshers DJs. Cost is £8.

Take a guided tour with the F Team who have all the insider knowledge on where lecture theatres are, how to find the Students' Union Starbucks outlet and the nicest loch-side walks. Check the Atrium board/social media for details of times of tours.

    How to be a successful student

    1pm to 2pm

    This workshop explores some of the attributes and skills undergraduate students need to be successful at the University of Stirling. The workshop will give you an insight into what the lecturers and tutors expect of you and some hints and tips on managing your assignments. It is also an opportunity to ask questions about studying at university. No booking required, just turn up.

    Write it right - positive ways to approach writing and referencing

    2.30pm to 3.30pm

    This workshop explores the expectations around academic writing at university. There will be a particular focus on using ‘evidence’ within your work, referencing and ensuring that you avoid plagiarism. We will also briefly talk about academic misconduct. No booking required – just turn up.

    Jurassic Party!

    The Students' Union is going back to the 90’s on the playlist so expect some absolute classics. We want you to get your best safari gear on and prepare for some live dinosaur interaction, a dinosaur egg balloon drop with prizes and a full blown Jurassic Jungle experience! Cost is £7.

    The Big Freshers Quiz with Shaun Wallace

    Test your quizzing skills at the Students' Union. Hosted by the quiz legend, Shaun Wallace ‘The Dark Destroyer’ & ‘Legal Eagle’ from The Chase, it’s time to get your thinking caps on. Who will lift the trophy this year? Max 10 people per team. Cost is £7.

Personal Tutor Scheme

All students will be allocated a personal tutor. You will be contacted within the first two weeks of semester to arrange a suitable time for the first meeting.
