    Essential guide for parents to University life Lecture Theatre A3, Cottrell building This session gives parents a chance to get advice and guidance on all aspects of university life with a focus on priorities and support for students.

    Families' Welcome Reception Crush Hall, Pathfoot building Our Families’ Welcome Reception commences at 2.30pm with short welcome speeches from the University Principal, Students’ Union President and Head of Student Support Services. Students and parents will subsequently have the opportunity to enjoy light refreshments and to meet and chat with senior members of the University.  All interested in attending are asked to register here. 2.30 to 3.30pm

    All students can register with the campus medical centre. You can access the application form here and the patient questionnaire here.

    Students can also register with the on-campus Dental Practice.  To register for dental treatment, you must first have a Dental Examination.  Dental examinations in Scotland are free, but if this short examination is not carried out, you will not be entitled to receive daily NHS Dental Emergency Cover.  Speak to dental service staff to make an appointment.

    Being a student is all about  settling into university, making friends, taking part in all of the great opportunities available and getting down to study. This session is an opportunity  to find out about the broad range of support available to all students and who you can work with to ensure that your time at Stirling is enjoyable and successful.     Write it right - positive ways to approach writing and referencing Lecture Theatre A3, Cottrell building This workshop explores the expectations around academic writing at university. There will be a particular focus on using ‘evidence’ within your work, referencing and ensuring that you avoid plagiarism. We will also briefly talk about academic misconduct. No booking required – just turn up. 2.30 to 3.30pm

Personal tutor scheme

All students will be allocated a personal tutor.  You will be contacted within the first two weeks of semester to arrange a suitable time for the first meeting.
