  • Precor
  • Runkeeper

Do I record all activity (including walking around)?
We are looking to encourage more activity and will accept all walking activity. Through Fitbit it appears that any ‘routine’ walking is not being included at present. So, please go out and walk to your heart's content.

If I don’t have a fitness app already downloaded, which is the best one to use?
If you have an I-Phone you can connect to Apple Health. Just ensure you take your phone or apple watch on any walks or runs.

We would suggest Strava, as this app can use your phones GPS to record walks and runs that you will do. You will however have to go into the app and select to record a walk or run.

Also if you are a gym user you can do an ‘XCapture’ within the app. This is under the ‘Record a Workout’ section on the front page of the app.

How do you transfer data between connected apps?
Once you connect an app the two will start to communicate with each other on a pre set pattern. Each app will be different and will download from the connected app at different time periods.

The fitness apps are not working for me
Can I add data manually?

Some participants are manually adding their activities direct to the Netpulse Fitness app without using a fitness app. It's easy to do - simply open the app and then click on 'Record a Workout'.

You could also email your miles and steps to walktothemoon@stir.ac.uk.

What treadmills can I use to capture my walk/run?
You can use any of the treadmills in the University of Stirling Gym to do an ‘Xcapture’ of your run that will send the information to the challenge. You can use this feature by going to ‘Record a Workout’ in the app and select ‘XCapture’.

You can also use our elliptical machines to do an ‘XCapture’.
