Young at Heart

Our Young at Heart scheme offers a great range of sport, fitness and social activities for older people.

By registering for a Young at Heart class, you automatically become a member of the University of Stirling Physical Education and Recreation for Seniors (SUPERS), which organises a varied programme of social and cultural events.

Free introductory session

If you’re thinking about joining our Young at Heart scheme you can take advantage of a free introductory exercise consultation service and complimentary tour of the sports facilities. To book an informal chat and tour, contact the Sports Centre reception.

Memberships

Adults aged 60 and over can take advantage of our discounted community membership, providing free year-round access to the fitness suite, swimming pool and to a range of health and fitness classes.

Non-members can still access the facilities on a pay-and-play basis.

These fitness sessions can be booked as a drop in where space is available. These sessions (not including Pilates) are included in the cost of a Sports Centre membership.

Class

Description

Exercise to Music

This class consists of light, aerobic exercises performed to music. It aims to improve the efficiency of the heart and lungs, muscular tone and flexibility.

Aerobics and Tone

Aerobic exercise to music — have fun while improving your overall fitness. Toning and resistance work to improve your strength plus some floor work.

Indoor Games

Includes table tennis, tennis and badminton, suitable for all ability levels. Equipment is provided and there is a break for refreshments.

Social Tennis

A weekly session of organised tennis for those that want to meet socially and have fun playing in an informal basis. A priority booking system for existing participants operates for some tennis classes.

Stretch and Tone

Stretch and tone is designed to strengthen and tone muscles and increase flexibility. The class consists of a light aerobic warm up, toning exercises and stretching.
