Children's tennis lessons

Our tennis classes are based on the Mini Tennis programme that allows children of all abilities to enjoy the game and develop their skills.

Mini Tennis is the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) programme for children aged between 3 and 10 years old.  LTA Mini Tennis offers the perfect introduction to the sport, with children progressing through the stages of Mini Tennis Red, Orange and Green. The programme uses smaller courts and racquets, lower nets and lower bouncing balls.

Sessions based on age and ability give young children a positive and exciting introduction into the game, leading onto a series of squads for all levels of ability and interest.

Pre-school                              Aimed at children aged three to five, where the classes develop hand-eye co-ordination skills in a fun and challenging environment. They learn to enjoy the game through a series of fun activities, based on the fundamental areas of balance, co-ordination, agility, movement and racket and ball skills.
Red 1 This class, for children aged five to seven, is played on a mini-sized court with small rackets and sponge balls. It is an ideal introduction to the game learning to serve, rally and score with a slow foam or felt ball.
Red 2 This class is the next stage in the development of a mini-red player.
Orange 1 Mini Orange is aimed at children eight to nine/ten. Courts are smaller than full size and adapted equipment is used. This class further develops specific tennis skills, with the ability to rally using foam, red and orange balls.
Orange 2 This class is the next stage in the development of a mini-orange player.
Green 1 Mini Green is aimed at children aged nine to ten/eleven years with players putting their skills into practice on a full sized court but with a slightly softer ball.
Green 2 This class is the next stage in the development of a mini-green player.
Yellow Squad This yellow-ball development class is aimed at further developing technique and match play skills of our players. With the help of the skills and confidence learned from these classes, we promote opportunities to participate in tournaments and match play events.
