Re-opening our sports facilities

In-line with the latest government guidance, we will be welcoming students, staff and community members back to our facilities from Monday 7 September.

Whilst work nears completion on our stunning new sports complex, we are programming a range of services and activities, both on-site and digitally, to fulfil your health and wellbeing needs over the coming months. We have accelerated the completion of our new app and online portal to provide information, activity and bookings at the touch of a buttonwhich you can read more about below.

As a result of the delayed completion of the new facilities, we ask for your patience and co-operation as we do our best to facilitate your sport, health and fitness experiences in the short term. We are working to put in place optimal access and membership options for you in advance of opening the new facilities in a couple months’ time. Your help and understanding with any short-term arrangements is very much appreciated.

We want you to enjoy your University of Stirling Sport experience and feel comfortable coming back to a health and fitness environment. Therefore, all our facilities and activities will have appropriate public health measures in place to keep you and our staff safe and happy (find out more below).

A programme of on-site fitness classes will be available when we re-open, ranging from indoor cycling and Zumba to HIIT and functional circuits. As per the gym, classes will also be bookable on a pay-as-you-go-basis and physical distancing will be in place. Read more about accessing the gym and attending fitness classes.

Work is well and truly back under way on our fabulous £20m sports facilities redevelopment project which we hope to open by the end of 2020. You can see some sneak preview images and find out more about the project on our dedicated facilities redevelopment page.

We will continue to keep you up to date with announcements around the project and hope to share details of our transition into the new facilities within the next couple of months.

University of Stirling Sport automatically froze/extended all memberships when we closed in March 2020. We are currently reviewing the reactivation of memberships in the context of new facilities due to open in a couple months’ time. We will provide further updates as soon as possible.

Please be assured the pay-as-you-go model for the temporary gym is completely separate from memberships which remain frozen and extended.

As the swimming pool is now fully connected to the new facility development, it is not currently possible to provide safe access and egress - in line with the current covid-19 guidance – to the public. Therefore, it will remain closed to students, staff and community members at this moment in time, however, will re-open at the earliest possible opportunity and updates will be provided.

Due to the public health circumstances and availability of facilities, our sports development programmes, including all lessons, will continue to be paused until further notice. We hope to have further updates available in the coming months.

We will provide further updates in due course on the use and bookings of other facilities, such as the tennis courts, pitches, athletics track and sports hall. There are currently no plans to re-open the golf course at this time.

Hold on a second

All services and activities will be subject to change depending on the latest government guidance.

Therefore your co-operation is greatly appreciated to ensure we can re-open the current facilities, keep them open and deliver your brand new facilities as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience! Stay well.
