University of Stirling interns

Stirling Internship Programme

Through the Stirling Internship Programme we advertise full-time and part-time internships exclusively for Stirling students over the summer. Offering an internship can benefit both you and our students, for example helping you with a piece of research, social media, data analysis and event organisation.

We work with all sizes or organisations, so whether you are a small business, charity, social enterprise, large multinational, public sector or national government organisation we have a student to suit you.

We ask that host organisations provide our students and graduates with appropriate mentoring and feedback on their performance. In return, you will benefit from a bright and enthusiastic team member who can provide a new perspective on existing business operations.

The Careers and Employability Service offer a free advertising service and targeted emails to appropriate subject areas for the Stirling Internship Programme. We also offer free facilities for interviewing, subject to room availability.

All internships advertised through the Stirling Internship Programme must pay at least £9.50 an hour, in line with the new Scottish Living Wage. There is a limited amount of funding available to part-subsidise a few of these internships.

“I am at the exciting but challenging early stage of my start-up, developing our core product - CASPER - a digital tool to measure workplace happiness and wellbeing.  The interns that I have worked with have helped to take my project to the next level and maintained a real team spirit so it has not felt lonely on my entrepreneurial journey.”

Stirling Internship Programme: available funds

The Stirling Internship Programme has a small subsidy fund to support some virtual part-time and full-time internships over the next few months for small SMEs, charities and social enterprises.

We are particularly keen to support employers who are providing essential services at this time and are looking for support that students can carry out in a virtual capacity.  This could be:

  • supporting you to deliver your business online
  • overseeing some of your social media
  • helping you with funding applications
  • carrying out some important research to help your organisation moving forward

If we cannot help you with funding, there are other funding sources available at present to help you. Please refer to your local council area business pages:

If you have an internship idea in mind, please get in touch.
