About

Prior to joining the University of Stirling in September 2003, Annie held a commission with the Women’s Royal Naval Service. After many tours in Navy Air Operations, she specialised both as an Assessor at the Admiralty Interview Board, the Royal Navy’s Officer Assessment Centre, based in Hampshire, and as a graduate recruiter in Scotland, managing a team of recruiters responsible for preparing students and graduates for a career in the Royal Navy. It was during her time in graduate recruitment, that Annie decided to embark upon a Master’s degree in Managing Human Resources. On finishing her regular commission, Annie joined the Royal Navy Reserves as a Media Relations Officer, the main remit being to design and implement local and national media-related campaigns for the Senior Service in the UK and abroad. Also, Annie gained CIPD accreditation and after having two appointments as an HR Manager in the south of England, Annie returned to Scotland to embark upon a new venture as a Careers Advisor within the HE Sector, balancing her commitment to the Reserve Forces with this new profession.

Annie has been in the role of a Careers and Employability Consultant at Stirling for just over 13 years. Her current case load consists of coordinating the annual DLHE Survey and teaching on the Career Management Skills and Work Experience Accredited Modules. Annie has also been responsible for designing and implementing Assessment Centres for undergraduates and MBA students and tutoring on the CRAC Insight into Management Course. Annie has recently become the Specialist Careers Consultant for the Faculty of Social Sciences, delivering one-one careers guidance to students and graduates along with working collaboratively with Faculty staff in the delivery of employability workshops.  Annie is a member of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS).
