Swimming scholarships

We are officially Scotland's University Sporting Excellence in recognition of our contribution to Scottish sport. We’re renowned for our outstanding contributions to world sport and for giving young talent opportunities to fulfil their potential.

Swimming scholarships provide you with a fantastic package of coaching, training, competition and funding support to fit in alongside your studies. At Stirling we bring together high performance coaches, excellent facilities, innovative sport science, strength and conditioning and performance mentoring.

Stirling are proud to support performance swimming in Scotland and run a high performance programme based at the Scottish National Swimming Academy, which includes a 6 lane 50m swimming pool which can be split into two 25m pools, land conditioning room, as well as state of the art sports science laboratories and strength and conditioning suites, which is home to the sportscotland Institute of Sport. We are 1st in Scotland and 2nd in the UK for sports facilities (The International Student Barometer (ISB) 2016).

Our long-established performance swimming programme has helped to produce Olympic, Paralympic, World, European and Commonwealth medallists.

Swimmers focus on a dual career of study and sport, with a sporting focus on preparing student athletes for Scottish and British trials, major Games and Championships. The programme enjoys a unique and relaxed atmosphere. It is individually tailored to help swimmers meet their goals. Establishing an appropriate balance between study, training, competition, rest and recovery creating longevity to swimming careers.
