Practice Background: Prior to coming to the University of Stirling in 1996, I worked in various statutory settings in Glasgow, Lanarkshire and Central Scotland, including spending one year as a prison based social worker. I subsequently worked as a Senior Development Worker with SACRO developing supported accommodation for young ex-offenders and devising probation groupwork services. In 1989 I was appointed joint co-ordinator of the first UK programme to work with men who were violent in relationsships, the CHANGE Programme, and I went on to develop and undertake training for Criminal Justice Social Workers in Scotland and Probation Officers throughout the UK in implementing this innovative for of intervention. I continue to provide consultation in this work and collaborate with colleagues in the UK, Ireland and Australia in developing such practice.
