Research (5)

The ultimate aim of my research is to find new and creative ways to reduce environmental pollution and improve public health globally.

I am an interdisciplinary researcher, combining a background in environmental science with more recent research experience in geography, social science and arts & humanities. I lead and contribute to inter- and trans-disciplinary projects which place people at their heart, using a variety of methods and approaches to engage people in the research process including co-creation, citizen science, participatory and creative methods. My current research projects are based in the UK and Africa.

Current postgraduate researchers (primary supervisor):

Amy McCarron - Air pollution and public health: exploring sustainable behavioural changes to reduce exposures in Scotland (NERC)

Sydney Byrns – Co-developing strategies to promote inclusive water governance in Malawi (Scottish Government)

Heather Anderson - Reconciling scientific and non-scientific safe water realities: case studies from the global North and global South (ESRC)
