David is a Paramedic with 25 years experience in front-line clinical practice. Prior to moving to a full time academic post in 2018 David was employed by the Scottish Ambulance Service and was attached to the Chief Scientist Offices' Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Research Unit (University of Stirling). Since moving to the faculty in 2018 from his position as Consultant Paramedic in Research and Development David has continued his research in pre-hospital emergency and unscheduled care. He teaches on the Clinical Doctorate Programme, co-ordinates the Advanced Clinical Examination and Assessment module (part of the MSc in Advancing Clinical Practice) and is the Programme Director for the forthcoming new BSc Paramedic Programme (commencing September 2020). David continues to practice clinically as a paramedic within the Scottish Ambulance Service.
