About me
About me
I work as a Computer Officer here in Computing Science and Mathematics, in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Stirling, Scotland. There are two Computer Officers in Computing Science and Mathematics, me and Sam Nelson (Senior Computer Officer) and we are collectively known as the Computing Support Group (CSG). It is our job to install and maintain the computing and networking equipment within CS&M and to install the software that will run on the many and varied computers. As well as the more glamourous computer hardware and software side of things, we turn our hands to the mundane tasks of changing printer paper and toner too!
We are also here as an advisory group for staff, postgraduates and third and fourth year undergraduates within Computing Science and Mathematics at the University of Stirling. So, if you fit into that category of people and you have an equipment or software related problem, feel free to come and see us (Room 4B81, Cottrell Building), `phone us (ext 7442 or 7443), or email us (csg@cs.stir.ac.uk) . If we can't help you, hopefully we'll at least be able to point you in the right direction.
My main activities include macOS, UNIX and Windows system administration and the installation and maintenance of software packages on these operating systems.
I am responsible for overseeing the appearance and maintenance of the CS&M web pages. I am also the CS&M Safety Officer, Fire Officer and Workstation Assessor.
