About me

Vander Viana is currently a lecturer in TESOL in the School of Education, and teaches in its related MSc programs. Prior to his appointment at the University of Stirling, Vander worked at Queen’s University Belfast, teaching undergraduates and postgraduates in English Language and Linguistics as well as TESOL. Vander holds a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast for which he examined disciplinary variation in doctoral thesis writing in English Language and Literature. Having worked with ESOL students and teachers from several countries since 1999, Vander has extensive knowledge of the field from both a practitioner’s and a teacher educator’s perspective. In terms of publishing experience, he has served as an editor and a reviewer for a number of international journals such as the TESOL Journal and Asian EFL Journal. Among his most recent publications is Perspectives on corpus linguistics (2011, John Benjamins), jointly edited with Sonia Zyngier and Geoff Barnbrook.
