I am a mental health nurse who joined the DSDC team in 2007. I currently the lead for the multidisciplinary knowledge exchange team working alongside research colleagues to bridge the gap between research and impact. My clinical experience has been gained in hospitals, community care settings and care homes, specializing in the care of older people with long term conditions and dementia. I have also developed and continue to manage the DSDC’s accredited educational Best Practice in Dementia Care Learning Programme that over 10,000 students have completed in the UK and internationally. The programme has won several national awards in the UK.
In 2013, I was awarded the UK Mental Health Nurse of the Year Award by Nursing Standard and RCN publishing as recognition of my educational support work to family carers of people with dementia.
