Dr Trevor Telfer has over 30 years experience in marine environmental resource development, including the last 20 years managing research and commercial projects at the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling. He lectures on undergraduate and postgraduate courses in aquaculture and marine biology, and is a Director of MSc Programmes within the Institute of Aquaculture.
He is a former member of an Expert Working Group on Animal Feed Additives (FEEDAP), for the European Food Standards Administration, and Core group (Environment) for the EU Aquaculture Technology and Innovation Platform.
Research, based in the EU, South-East Asia and Africa, includes; Assessment and modelling environmental impacts and carrying capacity of aquatic systems for aquaculture, sustainable development of aquaculture, ecotoxicology of aquaculture chemicals, and mitigation of aquaculture impacts using emerging technologies.
He has been principal supervisor of 15 successful PhD projects, and is currently principal supervisor to 3 PhD students. Dr Telfer has published over 70 articles in peer-reviewed or popular scientific journals and written over 120 professional consultancy reports.
