The University of Stirling has scheduled spring, summer, and winter graduation ceremonies this year with in-person events set to return to campus following postponement due to COVID-19.
Subject to public health guidance, a series of ceremonies will take place over the next 12 months to celebrate the achievements of those students who completed their studies in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
A new and permanent addition to the University calendar will see a spring graduation held in early April to recognise those graduating from year-long programmes, following the introduction of a February intake in 2021. Importantly, it will provide those international students with 12-month visas the opportunity to attend their graduation.
Graduations are scheduled between June 21 and June 27 to mark the success of students who completed their studies in 2020 and 2021 but were unable to attend a ceremony due to the pandemic, and 2022 graduates are set to receive their awards on June 29 and 30.
Finally, the University’s winter graduations – also celebrating 2022 graduates – are planned to return on November 24 and 25.

Professor Sir Gerry McCormac, Principal and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Stirling, announced the planned return of ceremonies – the first to take place in person since November 2019.
He said: “Graduation is the standout event in the University calendar – a moment when we all pause to celebrate the achievements of our graduates with their family and friends. I am delighted to confirm that graduations are planned for 2022 – and we’re looking forward to welcoming this year’s graduates, as well as those from 2020 and 2021, to campus to recognise this special moment.
“While we have marked graduations over the past two years, the pandemic has prevented us from hosting in-person ceremonies. We are thankful to our graduates and their families for their patience and understanding during this time – and we are all looking forward to having a day to remember later this year.
“I am incredibly grateful to all our of staff at the University who have worked incredibly hard over the past two years – and continue to do so – to ensure our students are fully supported in meeting their academic requirements, while keeping our campus community safe.”

All of them deserve to enjoy their moment on stage after the unprecedented conclusion to their studies at Stirling.
“All of these students have faced incredible challenges but they succeeded, and I am thrilled that they will be able to celebrate here on campus over the coming months.
“I am incredibly proud of the way in which the University’s students and staff have navigated these times. The return of graduation will be a special moment for all.”

Graduates will each receive two complimentary guest tickets for their ceremony and will also have the opportunity to attend celebratory receptions after each event, as well as a Graduation Ball on Friday 1 July.
Students who are due to graduate in April, and 2020 and 2021 graduates who previously expressed an intention to attend a future in-person ceremony, will receive invitations from the Graduation Team before the end of January. Students due to graduate in June will receive invitations in March, and those scheduled to graduate in November will receive theirs in September.
Given the ongoing impact of COVID-19, all events remain subject to Scottish Government and public health guidance, and it is recommended that travel and accommodation arrangements are not made until invitations are issued.
