UPDATE: From Monday 13 September, 2021, the mobile testing unit will be operating from the car park at the on-campus Airthrey Park Medical Centre - and not the East Car Park, as stated in this article and was previously the case. To book a test, please visit the NHS COVID-19 test referral portal.

The University of Stirling is welcoming the arrival of a COVID-19 (coronavirus) mobile testing unit on campus.

Located at the University’s East car park - located between the Innovation Park and Stirling Court Hotel - the unit will help provide rapid access to testing for staff, students and members of the public who are showing symptoms of the virus. Operated by the Scottish Ambulance Service, test results will be available within 48 hours.

The University has been working with the local authorities, NHS teams and the Scottish Ambulance Service over recent weeks to establish the unit. The facility will provide access for walk-in and drive through appointments and will be operational seven days a week, 10am to 5pm.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Gerry McCormac said: “We welcome this important facility on campus which provides greater access to testing and further enhances measures to make the University, and wider community, as safe as possible. I am grateful for the work of colleagues at the University in partnership with the local authorities, the Scottish Ambulance Service and the NHS, to get this up and running.

“The health, safety, and wellbeing of our students, staff, and the wider community is of utmost importance. We will continue to remind our community of the importance of alerting the University and NHS Test and Protect if they display symptoms, and of taking appropriate action, including booking a test.”

The unit plays an important role in NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect programme which is controlling the spread of COVID-19 in the community. Those experiencing coronavirus symptoms should book a test via the NHS Inform website, which will include the University of Stirling campus facility as a testing location.

People with any of the following symptoms should book a test at nhsinform.scot/test-and-protect or call 0300 303 2713 if they are unable to access the online service:

  • a high temperature or fever
  • a new continuous cough
  • a loss of, or change in sense of smell or taste
