Top-performing Accountancy and Finance students from Stirling Management School have been recognised at an industry sponsored prize-giving at the University of Stirling.

Four prizes, sponsored by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) and international accountancy firm KPMG, were awarded to students from Stirling Management School with the highest overall performance in selected Professional Accountancy modules.

Joshua Wood won the Charles Scott Prize and £100 for his performance in the Accounting I and Accounting II modules in his first year at the University.

The three KPMG prizes, including £200, were won by:

  • External Reporting – Emma Watson
  • Advanced Financial Accounting – Denise Kaufmann
  • Auditing – Lewis Wilshire

Emma Watson said: “It was a lovely surprise to win this award and to meet a KPMG employee to find out about their university life and career afterwards. My advice for other students would be to study hard as it’s nice when your hard work is rewarded!”

Ian Fraser, Professor of Accounting at Stirling Management School, said: “We greatly appreciate the generosity of both KPMG and ICAS in funding these prizes.  The Accounting and Finance Division greatly values its strong professional links; as competition for the best graduate positions becomes ever more competitive, these help us to provide students with the best possible foundation for their future careers.”

Presenting the prizes, Jillian Baird, Audit Manager at KPMG, said: “It was a great opportunity for KPMG to reward the hard work of the students and meet the talented individuals who are standing out in their year group.”
