Performers from the Macrobert Arts Centre helped mark the latest step in the £21.7 million redevelopment of the University of Stirling campus.
The Campus Central project, which includes an extensive refurbishment of the University’s existing atrium and a three-storey extension, will join the heart of the University with the Macrobert Arts Centre, as well as adding more than 50% of extra learning, social and study space for staff and students.
Budding actors from Macrobert Youth Theatre Company posed with members of the M-Dance Plus group, in a variety of costumes outside a new, temporary entrance - which will replace the original main door to the Arts Centre and University atrium until the completion of the project – expected by academic year 2020/2021.
Kathryn Welch, Operations Director, Macrobert Arts Centre, said: “Our regular customers will be aware that things look a little different at Macrobert Arts Centre now that the Campus Central project is well underway. Our temporary entrance on the loch side is beside a new drop off area and blue badge parking spaces. You’ll come up one level - via stairs, or there’s a lift - to our re-located Box Office.
“Inside, you’ll find our usual selection of live events, classes to get involved with, and a busy programme of blockbuster and independent films. Pop in and see us!’
As part of this latest stage of the project, access to the Macrobert Arts Centre via Queen’s Court has closed. A new accessible pedestrian walkway has been developed leading those on foot to the new temporary door, next to Haldane’s Restaurant. Queen’s Court is also closed to all vehicles and a temporary drop-off point has been created next to this new entrance.

“The project is now entering a vital stage, when the majority of the construction work will begin. We are grateful for the cooperation and patience of all users of our Campus while works are on-going.”
