University of Stirling student Maia Lumsden has be selected to compete in the Master’U Paribas Tennis event in France this weekend.

The tennis scholar was selected by BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) to represent the Great Britain student tennis team at the event in Grenoble.

Fellow Stirling tennis scholar Scott Duncan was also selected but had to withdraw due to injury.

The Master’U Paribas Tennis event is described as the “world’s biggest annual university tennis team event”.

The GB team, who are defending their title following a historic gold medal victory in 2017, also includes Jack Findel-Hawkins (University of North Florida), Isaac Stoute (University of Sussex), Ben Jones (University of Bath), Manisha Foster and Laura Sainsbury (both University of Nottingham).

Maia, who picked up her first International Tennis Federation (ITF) title in Shrewsbury earlier this month, is aiming high and hoping to make her mark in the world of tennis.

She said her training at the University had supported her tennis career, by offering her the chance to play with teams and practise with top players.
