Duncan Scott with gold medal at European Championships
Duncan Scott claimed another European gold medal in the 200m freestyle.

Stirling swim star, Duncan Scott, enhanced his burgeoning reputation last night as he claimed another gold in the 200m freestyle at the European Championships in Glasgow.

Adding to his relay gold and individual 100m freestyle silver won at the weekend, the University swimming scholar put in a season’s best performance to take his latest title.

He said: "I didn't really know what was going on with the rest of the field. I'm just really, really happy with how it went.

"I had no idea where I was in the race I just kicked on with my race plan - I was just hacking away in the last 25m and hoping.

"I was pretty relaxed in the warm up, but the crowd has been amazing all week - when I took my headphones off it was amazing.

"But I just went in with no expectations."

Scott will now prepare for one final event in the 4 x 100m medley relay whilst fellow Commonwealth champion, Aimee Willmott, will compete in tonight’s 200m individual medley final.

The inaugural European Championships will run until 12 August 2018. Visit glasgow2018.com for full schedule information.
