University of Stirling

The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) has confirmed the quality of the student experience and the academic standard of awards at University of Stirling following its review in September and November 2015.

A team of QAA reviewers visited the University and judged that it has effective arrangements for managing academic standards and enhancing the student learning experience.

The review identified a number of examples of good practice including commitment to engage with students in a partnership, together with the effective student representation arrangements which provide considerable opportunity for students to influence policy and practice, for example through the Transforming the Student Experience project.

The visit also commended Stirling's teaching awards which are run by the Stirling Students’ Union and involve every member of staff nominated for an award being given written feedback on the reasons for their nomination.

The review also highlighted that the University has successfully implemented a Personal Tutor system which is positively regarded by students and staff.

Professor Gerry McCormac, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Stirling said: “We work hard to ensure we offer the best student experience and will continue to make further improvements to enhance the already high quality teaching that takes place at Stirling.

"This vote of confidence by the QAA is testament to our commitment to enhancing the learning experience.  I would like to thank the QAA panel and University staff for their time in making this positive review possible”.

The University can now display the QAA Quality Mark, indicating to UK and international students that the University meets national requirements for standards and quality.
