An International Festival with food tasting, live music and fashion will take place at the University of Stirling on Wednesday 11 March.

In celebration of the University’s diverse student and staff community – which currently comprises 122 nationalities - there will be the chance for staff, students and the general public to brush up on their Spanish, try their hand at African drumming or dabble in the Brazilian martial art of capoeira.

Special children’s sessions at the MacRobert Arts Centre include art and storytelling.

Stephanie Niven, Assistant Director, Head of International Affairs in the Development and External Affairs Directorate, said: “Our International Festival is open to all, and includes a wide variety of student-led activities. We look forward to celebrating the rich cultural diversity of our student and staff community.

“The University of Stirling is proud to enjoy strong partnership links with international institutions, and to assist international students and staff in preparing for their time here.

“That our teaching and student populations comprise so many nationalities is testament both to the international reputation of our university, and also the warm welcome that is assured on campus.”

The International Festival runs from 10am to 3pm and activities are free and open to the public. The event has been organised by the University and the Students’ Union, and is sponsored by OneStirling and Turkish Airlines.

In the Andrew Miller Building Atrium, stands will include representatives from student societies, plus University and student services.

The Festival coincides with a social media campaign being run during March by Education UK, Universities UK and NUS that celebrates international students and international alumni.
