The University of Stirling Archives holds an extensive collection of historical material relating to the provision of treatment and care in the NHS Forth Valley area. This material dates back to the middle of the nineteenth century and includes historical patient records and administrative material from a number of hospitals including Bellsdyke Hospital and the Royal Scottish National Hospital (designated a collection of national importance by UNESCO in 2012). The NHS Forth Valley Archive also includes a large collection of nursing memorabilia including photographs, badges, certificates and papers relating to the Forth Valley College of Nursing and Midwifery.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the NHS we are hoping to add to the nursing material in the Archive by creating a collection of nursing uniforms worn in the Forth Valley area over the last 70 years. If you have an example of an old nurses uniform that you would like to donate to the archive please contact the University Archives at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your donations will contribute to creating a complete record of nursing life in the Forth Valley area.
