This recognition from the Academy is not exclusively for my own work, but for the outstanding achievements of those with whom I have collaborated, and with whom I have shared the research journey over the last thirty years. Adrian Blackledge is Professor of Sociolinguistics at University of Stirling. He conducts ethnographic research in the field of language in society, with a particular focus of multilingualism and translanguaging. He has published widely on both multilingualism and sociolinguistics. He was Birmingham Poet Laureate from 2014-2016.
He is currently developing creative approaches to the representation of research outcomes.
Academy of Social Sciences
The Academy of Social Sciences is the national academy of academics, learned societies and practitioners in the social sciences. Its mission is to promote social science in the UK for public benefit. The Academy is composed of approximately 1,400 individual Fellows, 46 Member Learned Societies, and a number of affiliates. Together, this body of organisations is a community of some 90,000 social scientists. Academy Fellows are leading professional social scientists from academia and the public and private sectors.
