Philip Warren Newall began his PhD at the Stirling Behavioural Science Centre in September 2013. Prior to that, his interests reflected a broad range of interdisciplinary topics: he completed a BSc in Economics and Statistics at UCL in 2009; passed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst examination series, a gold standard qualification in the industry; and completed an MSc in Cognitive and Decision Sciences at UCL in 2013. His research interests are focused on ways of improving financial decision making, especially with decisions made over time.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Philip has pursued a profitable side-line as a professional poker player and author. His publications, The Intelligent Poker Player (2011), and Further Limit Hold ‘em: Exploring the model poker game (2013) are published by the industry leader, Two Plus Two Publishing, and are available in all good online bookstores in paperback and e-book! These books are held in high regard by small sections of the poker playing elite. Although now retired from day to day playing, Philip continues to write a monthly column for Two Plus Two and hopes to include this area of work in his future research.
