On Tuesday 9th December 2014, the Stirling Management School held its 6th Annual Research Conference in the University's Courtroom. The Conference, as ever, was a lively, vibrant event that enabled interesting discussion and showcased research activity within the School.

NEW APPOINMENT

Stirling Management School is delighted to announce that Graeme Acheson will be joining the school as a Professor of Finance on 1 February 2013. Graeme will be a member of the Accounting and Finance Division and joins us from the University of Ulster, where he was a Reader in Finance, having previously been at Queen’s University, Belfast.

Institute of Socio Management Funding Grant

The Institute of Socio Management have successfully secured funding to conduct a project with a value of £4.5K funded by the Scottish Funding Council and administered through Interface. Interface connects businesses from a wide variety of national and international industries to Scotland's higher education and research institutes. This unique service is designed to address the growing demand from organisations wanting to collaborate with academia.

Stirling MSc Investment Analysis Team Reach UK Final of CFA Institute Research Challenge

A team of five students from the MSc Investment Analysis, a Program Partner of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute, have become the fifth Stirling University team in six years to win a place in the UK Final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge. Stirling will compete against teams from CASS Business School and the University of Exeter Business School in the final, to be held at Thomson Reuters in London’s Canary Wharf on 5th March 2013.

Your Future in a Surveillance Society: The Salon Project

As part of ‘The Salon Project’, CRISP Director, Professor William Webster, will be talking about ‘Your future in a surveillance society’. The Salon Project, inspired by the rituals of European 19th century salons, is a large scale interactive performance where audience members are invited to dress in full 19th / early 20th Century costume. It is not a simple historic re-enactment, it is focused on the total immersion of the audience within the event. By placing the participants in the dress of the period, their perception of where they are and who they are, is shifted, transporting them to a place of social discourse, a theatre of conversation and debate.

Stirling MSc Investment Analysis Team Take Second Place in UK Final of CFA Institute Research Challenge

A team of four students from the MSc Investment Analysis, a Program Partner of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute, achieved second place in the UK Final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge which took place on 5th March 2013 in London, hosted by CFA Society UK. The team competed against CASS Business School and the Final winners, University of Exeter Business School.
