Danny Blanchflower Lecture

On Tuesday 2nd December the University of Stirling Management School, in partnership with the Institute of Directors, welcomed over 100 business representatives, alumni, staff and students to a guest lecture led by the School’s eminent economist, Professor David (Danny) Blanchflower. Professor Blanchflower, a former member of the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee, is also a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and an economic columnist for both the New Statesman magazine, the Independent Newspaper, and a contributing editor of Bloomberg Television.

Stirling Management School is delighted to announce that Graeme Acheson will be joining the school as a Professor of Finance on 1 February 2013. Graeme will be a member of the Accounting and Finance Division and joins us from the University of Ulster, where he was a Reader in Finance, having previously been at Queen’s University, Belfast.

The Institute of Socio Management have successfully secured funding to conduct a project with a value of £4.5K funded by the Scottish Funding Council and administered through Interface. Interface connects businesses from a wide variety of national and international industries to Scotland's higher education and research institutes. Stirling MSc Investment Analysis Team Reach UK Final of CFA Institute Research Challenge

A team of five students from the MSc Investment Analysis, a Program Partner of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute, have become the fifth Stirling University team in six years to win a place in the UK Final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge. Stirling will compete against teams from CASS Business School and the University of Exeter Business School in the final, to be held at Thomson Reuters in London’s Canary Wharf on 5th March 2013.
