One graduate is counting on a fantastic future after graduating with a Master's in Finance from Stirling Management School.
Originally from Chengdu in China, Kai Huang began studying at Stirling through the University partnership with INTO, which helps ready international students for studying at a UK university.
Among the first students to graduate from the joint graduate diploma programme, Kai went on to pursue his Master's in Finance.
Kai said: "I studied computing at undergraduate level so the INTO programme gave me an overview of the field of finance before starting my postgraduate study. INTO also gave me more time to get used to life at a University overseas and become familiar with Stirling, letting me focus on my academic modules."
The 29-year-old was working in Beijing before he made the 5,000 mile journey to Scotland.
"I remember when I was a child my mother took me to one of her evening finance classes. I was fascinated by the diagram and wanted to know more. A lot of my family members are involved in finance and accounting and I think this gradually influenced my decision to study finance", Kai continued.
During the year-long course, Kai achieved distinctions in 75 percent of his modules and finished in the top three students on his course.
"It was great to work with students from so many different countries at Stirling. By coordinating projects between lots of different individuals I learnt a lot about team work and communication in order to make our work a success.
"I think the most important thing I learnt at Stirling is how to adapt to the different environment and different education methods. The world is getting smaller all the time so it is important to adapt to new things quickly and combine different ways of doing things from different parts of the world.
"I love the lifestyle in Stirling: the campus is very beautiful and the people here are very friendly, and I’ll take all that I have learnt back to China."
Having learnt about finance markets, economics, accounting policies and more at the University, Kai now hopes to build a successful career in the banking industry.
